A Passion for Fitness through Technology
My name is Tristan Haskins. I run, cycle and windsurf whenever I can. This website is first and foremost a passion of mine …. secondly, it’s a business. I love gadgets, especially anything that helps me stay fit and healthy. I have an HND in Sports Science from Luton University and a Senior Personal Training Diploma from the YMCA. I also hold an RYA Coastal Yacht Masters Licence having been a commercial skipper of a 54′ ketch in Turkey in 1997. From 1999 to 2013 myself and Louise ran HeartRateMonitor.co.uk (BHIP Ltd) selling heart rate monitors, Leatherman Tools & Gerber products within the UK. In 2014 we stopped trying to compete with online warehouses and I focused on REVIEWING the products.

Tristan’s Rides on Strava
Tristan set the site up in 1999 to sell heart rate monitors to customers who wanted help choosing the HRM that was right for their needs and budget. Tristan is passionate about enjoying life to the maximum. His passions are his family and his love of windsurfing (Speedsailing), running and cycling (road and MTB). As well as managing this website, Tristan also works as a self employed CAA qualified Drone Pilot from DroneVista.co.uk, providing aerial photography and video to clients around Norfolk. Tristan’s latest project is IsMyCar.co.uk – a great way to check if a car has a valid MOT or Vehicle Tax.
Louise is also a keen runner and member of Ryston Runners since 2011. Lou has completed several full marathons and many halfs. Lou’s favourite place to run is the promenade in Hunstanton, with her friends, daughters, dogs or just battling the elements on her own. Since quitting as director at BHIP Ltd, Louise has set up a successful gardening business, balanis.co.uk – however, she is still involved with testing the latest fitness trackers.
This website was one of the first online retail outlets selling Heart Rate Monitor watches online. Initially we sold just ProActiv and CardioSport HRM’s. Later we expanded to Polar and Timex. CardioCritic has established itself as the leading source of independent / impartial reviews of heart rate monitors & fitness watches. We no longer sell products directly online. We have now focused solely on REVIEWS.

More about our history….
For 14 years we maintained a position of respect serving over 300,000 customers with goods from Polar, Suunto, Garmin, CardioSport, WahooFitness, iThlete and even with our own BHIP Ltd products.
Unfortunately, in 2013, we had to accept the facts that the market had changed out of all proportion and it was now a matter of low prices taking precedence OVER quality service and unbiased, objective customer support. In Nov 2013, that we reluctantly decided to close the website to ONLINE sales and instead, focus solely on REVIEWING the latest fitness products from all the leading brands… which is where we are now.
Remember … when you click the CHECK PRICE button you are taken to our affiliated shopping partners. If you buy from these suppliers we get a small commission incentive… it’s not much, but it helps pay the bills.
