Strapless Heart Rate Monitors

LISTING ORDER >> I have tried to list the best & most popular products first. Obsolete products are listed towards the END

These fitness bands and sports watches acquire a live and continuous heart rate reading directly from your wrist. You do NOT need a chest strap with any of these models. Are they accurate? I have performed comparison tests a couple of times > HR test 1 & HR test 2. In conclusion, for approximately 95% of the time they are 95% accurate. If you insist on 100% accuracy, sorry, it has to be a chest strap for the time being.

The BEST Fitness Watches with Built-In Heart Rate

For the general fitness user who just wants to stay healthy, get fitter, keep motivated and track general activity (24/7) without going OTT with technical functionality I would recommend any of the following -  1) Polar A360    2) Garmin Vivosmart HR   3) Forerunner 35   4) Fitbit Charge 2

For the more advanced user looking for technical feedback both during and after training with built-in GPS (speed & distance tracking) then I would recommend the following - 1) TomTom Runner 3 (Spark)   2) Fitbit Surge   3) the Garmin Vivoactive HR (in my opinion the best all round GPS sports watch with wrist based heart rate, built-in GPS & 24/7 activity tracking)

For more technical runners I'd recommend the Garmin Forerunner 235. For triathletes the Garmin Forerunner 735XT

For fans of the latest wearable tech there are now several brilliant smartwatches with wrist based heart rate. For iPhone users I'd recommend the Apple Watch 2 Nike+. For Android users there is the brilliant Polar M600 built-on Android Wear and similarly the Motorola Moto 360
