BlueLeza – Bluetooth & ANT+

UPDATE >> Full review of the BlueLeza now online

We are in the middle of a long term test of the BlueLeza HR belt. There are quite a few HRM belts out there compatible with Bluetooth 4 smartphone and fitness watches, the most popular probably being the Wahoo Tickr and the Polar H7. So what makes the BlueLeza special? It can transmit heart rate data to any compatible Bluetooth 4.0 device AND and it can also transmit to any ANT+ device. This means I can use the SAME heart rate belt on my Garmin Edge cycling computer as I can for my smartphone APPS.

Why are we still using HRM belts?

With more and more devices coming along with BUILT-IN off the wrist heart rate, you may wonder why we are still using belts. Two reasons.

  1. They are MORE accurate. That’s a fact. The Garmin, Mio, Epson, Polar etc strapless HR sensors are a great convenience, but they are a way off 100% accuracy
  2. The HRM chest straps look at the whole ECG heart rate echo. This means they have a bucket load of physiological metrics that can be analysed by software like Elite HRV to give heart rate variability feedback and tell you when you need to step UP your training and when you really need to look at taking a rest.

If you are serious about training, consider an HRV testing APP
