Open Water Swim for V800
At last. Polar have come good to their word and added swim-metrics to the Open Water Swimming sport profile in the Polar V800. This means the V800 now offers comparible swim-metrics to the Suunto Ambit3 Sport and the Garmin Forerunner 920XT for both indoor and outdoor swimming.
POST SESSION feedback on your swim gives access to distance, time and pace, and number of strokes. The V800 also recognises your swimming stroke style (breaststroke, crawl/freestyle, butterfly and backstroke). Additionally it gives you a SWOLF score. You’ll also get heart rate information if you wear a H7 heart rate sensor while swimming.
SWOLF – is calculated by adding together the swim time and the number of strokes taken to swim a pool length. For example if it took 35 seconds using 10 strokes to swim a length of the pool your SWOLF score would be 45. The lower your SWOLF score is for each specific stroke style the more efficient you are.
